CORSAIR Vengeance 1300

A comfortable headset with solid sound

 Price £57

+ VENGEANCE Good all-round audio; comfortable

- JEALOUSY Sound isn’t quite as good as the competition

With its first efforts at headsets, Corsair went for a pure, flat-frequency response range, but this lacked the low-end bass prowess that made the likes of Asus’ Vulcan ANC so popular. As such, we’re hoping that its new Vengeance headsets will turn the tables.

The Vengeance 1300 proved to be very comfortable indeed, although they do exert slightly too much pressure on the ear cup cushions. It also has a microphone that rotates out of the way, an in-line remote for volume and microphone control and it feels generally well made too.

We had no major complaints about the audio either. The mid-range and high-end frequencies sounded great, and Corsair has tweaked the bass too; low frequencies now sound much more substantial than with the company’s previous efforts.

The low end was still a little muddy compared to the likes of the Qpad QH-90, though, with the explosions and booms in games and movies lacking a little detail, even when compared with cheaper headsets such as the Ozone ST.

CONCLUSION

The Vengeance 1300 is a good if not spectacular-sounding headset that’s also extremely comfortable to wear. However, it’s lacking in just one or two areas in terms of
sound quality compared to the competition. The cheaper Ozone ST gave it a run for its money in terms of bass reproduction, while the Qpad QH-90 costs just a little more and sounds far better.
